The Oban 2011 event is in the final three for the Best Sporting Event Award in the Central South West Regional finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards.
Winners will be announced on 23rd May at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow and will be shortlisted for the national finals in November.

To be held at Lanark Racecourse and Moor Country Park on Wednesday 6th June. The Festival is aimed at pupils who have been introduced to orienteering through their school and the courses will be set at a level that will allow success for all pupils who have grasped the basic skills. The Scottish team and reserves have been selected for the 2012 Veterans Home International match against England, Ireland and Wales. This will take place in Northern Ireland on 16-17 June.
The team consists of two women and two men in each age class from 40 to 60, plus one 35 and one 65. Congratulations to the following:

On 7th April, at a large Orienteering Event in Highland Perthshire (JK), I thought my biggest challenge would be improving the pace at which I could accurately complete my course. However, about 15 minutes into my run a much greater challenge came into view. Two other orienteers had just found a young competitor lying unconscious on the forest floor.
