JK2012 Survey Report

Last edited: 30th May

The results of the survey carried out after the JK2012 event are now available.
You can download the 59 page report as a PDF (1.7MB)
The report includes all user comments (good, bad or indifferent).

Key findings (top percentages) are:

Q1 70% attendees were from elsewhere in the UK
Q2 63% found it very good booking their entry
Q3 27% found it good entering socials/ordering merchandise
Q4 76% travelled to the event by car
Q5 61% would not have used a centralised bus service
Q6 Stats on numbers in party
Q7 29% stayed in Pitlochry
Q8 26% were self catering
Q9 36% stayed in Scotland for 4 days
Q10 32% did no activity other than orienteering [I was surprised at such a high percentage]
Q11 81% would come back to Perthshire for a holiday
Q12 Average daily spend was nearly £67. Extrapolating this figure gives a total spend (local economy) of £910,000. This figure does not include other spend by the organisers on services e.g. loos, infrastructure improvements, parking charges, mappers, printers etc
Q13 23% have attended between 11-20 JKs
Q14 Individual days have best attendance (bit of an unnecessary question!)
Q15 Technical Aspects - table in report
Q16 Information and Programme table in report
Q17 84% did not use SportIdent live results [many didn’t know these were available]
Q18 43% accessed the internet daily
Q19 39% used computers to access the internet
Q20 76% didn’t use social networks to access information [Facebook share price plummets]
Q21 70% didn’t think it was important the event was held in a holiday destination
Q22 39% consider the JK is an orienteering festival (33% an important Level A domestic competition)
Q23 39% definitely would not take part in MTBO if it was included in the JK
