A report on the 2006 league with results and final standings.
SOL 2006 prizegiving:
This will take place at SOL 1/FCC & Junior Selection Race at Caluain & Banvie Woods, Blair Atholl on 4th March 2007. So no excuses for not having trophies engraved and returned. Hopefully most trophy winners will be at SOL 1 to receive their award. Eileen Maxwell is willing to accept trophies at any events prior to or at SOL 1.

A total of 812 people scored SOL points this year (including double-counting a small number who competed in more than one class), boosted by the FCC final at Craig Mhic and the post-Harvester at Teviothead. 14 runners scored a maximum of 4000 points. The leading club are Clyde with 9 class winners, followed by ESOC (7) and GRAMP (6). Three classes were won by cross-border competitors (one each from NATO, SROC and WCOC).
There has been some debate this year about two issues: (1) the inclusion of non-Scottish club members in the scores (only really an issue when they run only one or 2 events, win, and affect everyone’s points); (2) whether a simple ratio of your time to that of the winner is the best to use. It is the simplest - the most likely alternative is based on your performance relative to the average but taking into account the spread of times (as used for SoSOL and the 6-Days). If you have any views on either of these issues, please e-mail the co-ordinator (sol2006’at’tiscali.co.uk), who will pass comments onto the Competitions Committee in time for SOL2007. Please also let me know of any errors or omissions.
