Purple Thistle, Oban, Aug 23/24

215 people have entered so far. What is surprising is the number of entries from outside Scotland and the noticeable absence of a lot of regular SOL participants.
Perhaps they haven’t realized that there is an opportunity to orienteer on 2 high quality areas in one weekend. Creag Mhic already has a reputation and I’m sure that Kerrera will have one after this weekend.
This also promises to be a great social weekend, with a commercial campsite being the base for the event. So help out your fellow orienteers and pass the word.

Scottish O League, Loch Vaa, 7th Sept

CLYDE are hosting SOL 4 at Loch Vaa on Sunday 7th September.  Entries are now open at www.oentries.com
Loch Vaa is one of the best orienteering areas in the UK, and was used for the World Championship Relays in 1999 and the Scottish 6 Days as well as several other high profile events.

SOA Marketing questionnaire

The SOA board of directors is currently working on developing a strategy for marketing orienteering. The process involves first analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the SOA, then identifying the opportunities and threats facing the sport. It was important to get as many views on this as possible in order to develop an effective working strategy. The opinions of all SOA members were sought and I am extremely grateful to those of you that spared the time to complete the questionnaire.
