Shadowing Juniors at SOLs

In itself there is nothing wrong with shadowing and it is a very good way of helping and coaching any orienteer.  Should it be allowed at a competitive series like the SOLs?

Implementation of a new Events structure

There will be changes to how events are classified and structured, and the following is based on the DRAFT guidelines issued by British Orienteering.

The Scottish Sprint Championships provides a championship at sprint distance orienteering. Sprint orienteering tests rapid decision making while running at close to full speed.

Scottish Score Orienteering Championships rules and guidelines

Purpose

The Scottish Score Championships provides good quality age-based competition with the score format. The event will normally take place at the end of the year, the score format meaning that competitors spend a well defined time in the forest.  The event may be combined with the Scottish Inter-Club Championships.

SOL Competition rules and guidelines

The Scottish Orienteering League provides a series of high quality events throughout Scotland throughout the season. High quality venues, maps and quality courses are the key aims. Other key objectives include: elite development and selection, encourage national level competition, act as a flagship and publicity vehicle, to create continuity of quality, and coordinate with other high-quality BOF events.
These rules are in the process of being updated, see the 2009 draft.
