Junior Inter-Regional Championships 2007

JIRC teamThe Scottish juniors were narrowly beaten into second place by the Yorkshire and Humberside Squad at the weekend.  The competition between the 12 Regions took place in north Yorkshire, with the Individual on Saturday being held on the very fast limestone pavement of Malham Moor, the fastest running just over 5 mins/k.  Yorkshire held an overnight lead over Scotland of just 4 points.

European Mountain Bike Orienteering Champs

Janine Inman (FVO) has just returned from Italy where she was representing Great Britain at the European Mountain Bike Orienteering Champs. The week of races, held this year in the Tuscany hills, included a range of riding terrain from steep, loose ascents and descents, to open sunbeaten fields and shady, muddy woodland. The week opened with the Sprint Race where Janine got Britain’s best ever sprint result, 12th place. Janine also got a PB in the Classic race where she finished 18th.

Start Clocks

The SOA has five sets of clocks that can be used at race starts or finish to show race time. These clocks are designed to be a “Turn on and Go” system for an event start.

There are two linked displays: one for the start line which shows race time and one for the pre start. The displays are controlled by a Real Time Clock.  The start signal counts down the last few seconds with a beep,
